Your right, can't resist it so will give it a go tomorrow night - don't know if that's fast or slow but you could work out the MPH if you wanted - that would give you some idea

Once you work out the mileage try to apply these paces.
On 20mile routes I aim to average 15 mph.
Good (err faster) cyclists will try for 18-20mph.
Whatever your pace if you are looking for a challenge just try beating your previous time next time.
Good luck.
Buster

my calc is on the right track but as usual I may be missing something: :-(
2min15s =135 sec
1 hour = 3600s
3600/135= 26.666
is that right? you do 1 mile at a pace of 26mph?
now try doing it for 2 miles etc etc ...

o.k long time since school and using brain

1: MULTIPLY MILES TRAVELLED BY 60.

2: DIVIDE ANSWER BY TIME TAKEN IN MINUTES

E.G 1 MILE IN 2.51

1 MILE TRAVELLED MULTIPLY BY 60 = 60
60 DIVIDED BY 2.51 MINS EQUALS 23.90 MILES PER HOUR

E.G 15 MILES IN 2 HOURS

15 MILES TRAVELLED MULTIPLY BY 60 = 900
900 DIVIDED BY 120 MINS = 7.5 MILE PER HOUR

i think vavb has the right idea

herbie needs to use either apples or pears in his sums =>
2hr 51min is 171 minutes not 2.51hrs :)
and 23.90 mph for 2hrs => 47.80 miles not 15 miles :)

need i go on lol

Sorry Bloomp,

Oops my mistake (read it quickly as 2.51 mins instead of 2 mins 51 seconds )

I Must remember to read correctly before posting.

The second 'E.G' was just the another example of the calculation not a reference to the first distance / time .

E.G 15 MILES IN 2 HOURS IS 7.5 MILES PER HOUR

seems you are reading the posts in the same fashion as me.

need i go on lol
