This is an excellent, slightly hilly and typical Dorset lanes ride, starting at Toller Porcorum and riding in a clockwise direction. First ascent is to Eggardon Hill, followed by a descent to Powerstock, West Milton, Mangerton and on to Bridport. Then follow NC route 2 through Waytown and Netherbury to Beaminster for a half-way picnic stop. Now ride north on either the road signed for Corscombe or the rougher (but less steep)Wessex Ridgeway lane and trail that passes Beaminster school. Now its a fast descent into Corscombe, Rampisham and follow the NC route 26 south to Cattistock. Finally a right turn to the fabulously named Chilfrome, Tollerford, final uphill along the A356 and a quick wizz back into Toller Porcorum. |
