Cycle Steps
Taking the ferry from Yarmouth, heading west along the coastal path to the Needles, over the top of tennyson down, into freshwater, along the cliff top to Compton bay.

Then north up to compton down, along the ridge a long downhill back into freshwater for lunch at the fat cat (real beer) then notrh from the pub car park, then onto the old railway bridleway (only flat bit) back to ferry at Yarmouth.
Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?
Fantastic views of the Solent and new Forest from the top of Tennyson Down, plus really fast long grass descent (watch out for 2 dips) they really squash the forks at 40mph!

I went with a friend after walking half the route the month earlier and had a wicked time. The downhill bits easily make up for the long slog to the top of the hill. Fantastic views and I completly recommend it.

I was not aware that cycling was permitted on West High Down and Tennyson Down. Until such time as it is - keep off ! thank you.

Rob is right, the NT area of Tennyson Down and West High Down is strictly no cycling. Instead, take the nearby road to Alum Bay from Freshwater Bay and rejoin this route, which is gorgeous.
