Outward leg: Stapleton to Barton under A1M and head for Melsonby. On toward (downhill) Forcett and Caldwell. Turn left toward Little Hutton and Whorlton. From Whorlton to Barnard Castle turning right after Bowes Museum follow road to Morrisons Car Park and the Cafe for tea.
Distance 19 miles.

Return Leg:
Back to Whorlton the way you came, over the river and through Little Hutton. Turn right by the large estate follow cycle sign 2 miles, turn left and head for Caldwell. From Caldwell back to Epplby, Manfield and Cleasby finishing at Stapleton. Distance 35 miles
