Cycle Steps
Great circular route which i use to extend the Seaham/South Hetton circle into a more challenging ride. Start out at the Sea front at Seaham and travel south following the road and eventually turning west to head inland (and uphill) to the A19 bridge.

Cross straight over and use the completed but un-opened road which will take you to south hetton. At the end of this road you will hit a roundabout. Turn right and follow the road for approx 100yards until you see the bridleway to the left.

Take this for about half a mile till you reach the stile. Once through here onto an old pit heap, bear left until you come out on the main road. Cross straight over to pick up the Hasswell to Hart cycleway. At the next road intersection, turn right onto the road until you reach a tee junction at Haswell.

Turn left here and follow this road straight going through Shotton and eventually hitting a mini roundabout at Wingate. Turn left here and follow this road to the tee junction. Turn left onto the busy road for about 200 yards looking out tfor the cycle track (there is a pedestrian island where the track crosses the road). Turn right here onto the track heading north which takes you through Shotton and eventually deposits you back on the main road in South Hetton.

Cross here and go back over the pit heap this time keeping left until eventually you see the old mineral railway line on the right. Follow this all the way to Ryhope passing Murton and Seaton. At Ryhope, bear right and pick up the coast road back towards Seaham ending back up where you started. Some nice scenery along the way on this route. Mix of surfaces so better suited to mountain bike or Hybrid.
