The route is most suitable for sports and hybrid cycles A mix of trunk roads and country lanes.The route is mostly flat or undulating across mid cheshire countryside,passing through Holmes Chapel village and by-passing the old mill town of Congleton via inner ring road. Mostly the trunk roads are relatively low traffic volume with the exception of the busy A556 between Plumley and Northwich |

Jack Gee cycle shop and Halfords in Northwich Shortly after the start of the route is Northwich Country Park and the Lion Salt Works alongside the Trent and Mersey canal which is in the process of renovation. The route passes through Chelford which has a very popular market on Wednesdays. Later the route passes by Redesmere lake and picnic area and close to Capesthorne Hall on the A34 road.On the same road is the St James and St Pauls church at Marton.This is one of the oldest timber framed churches in Europe and is a Grade 1 listed building. Towards the latter part of the route is Shakerley Mere at Byley,a popular picnic site with plenty of wildfowl on its waters. Refreshments are available at many pubs on the route and also in Holmes Chapel and Congleton |
