| This is a road route, mainly on B roads, but with elements of A and country roads, that is quite hilly. Starting in Dolfor Road, A483, head towards the centre of Newtown. At the T junction turn right onto New Road, still A483. Take the first left, off the A483 and onto Park Street. Follow this to the B4568 crossroads. At the crossroads, turn left onto Back Lane, B4568, and follow this as it swings right and then left over the river to the roundabout. At the roundabout, turn right, still on the B4568, and follow this over the crossroads and the pedestrian crossing. Take the first turn off on the left after the crossing, turning off the B4568 onto Llanfair Road, heading towards Tregynon. Continue on this road to just before Tregynon, where it becomes the B4389. Then continue on the B4389 straight through Tregynon and on till New Mills. At New Mills, turn left, still following the B4389 towards Llanfair. Continue on this road until you reach the Cefn Coch crossroads. At the crossroads, turn left, off the B4389, heading towards Cefn Coch (do not drop down hill in Llanfair). Follow this road to the crossroads at the trees. At the crossroads, turn left, still heading for Cefn Coch. Continue on through Cefn Coch, swing left at Rhydri and continue on towards Carno until you get to the A470 T junction. At the junction, turn left onto the A470, heading towards Caersws. Continue on the A470 through Carno, Afon Carno, Clatter and Pontdolgoch. After Pontdolgoch, follow the A470 as it swings left under the railway bridge and then right, and go along the straight till the first turn off on the left. At the turn off, turn left, off the A470 and onto the B4568, heading towards Llanwnog. Continue to follow the B4568 through Llanwog, over the B4569 crossroads where you have right of way, past Aberhafespon, through Milford and on till the roundabout. At the roundabout, turn right, still on the B4568, heading over the river into Newtown. Retrace you route via Back Lane, Park Street and the A483 back to the start point. |
