| This is a road route, mainly on country lanes, but with a section of A road, that has a couple of inclines, though is mostly flat. I use this route on my mountain bike. Starting in Minster, head out on Monkton Road through Monkton to the A253 T junction. At the junction turn left onto the A253 and then take the first left off again, heading towards East Stourmouth. Follow the road across the railway bridge, over the river, and through East Stourmouth. Take the first left, after East Stourmouth, onto Santon Lane, heading towards Elmstone. Follow the road till the T junction. At the junction, turn left onto Mill Lane still heading towards Elmstone. Follow the road as it turns sharp right, becoming longmere Road, then take the fourth turn off to the left, onto Sheerwater Road heading into Elmstone. Follow this road through Elmstone and on with no turn off through Ware. It then continues across the Wass Drove crossrroads, on through many sharp bend, but with no turn offs to Richborough. Take the Richborough Road, heading for Sandwich, which runs between the Roman Fort and Roman Amphitheatre, then turns right to run alongside the railway line. It then goes over the railway bridge, under the A256 and on till the T junction in Sandwich. At the junction, turn left onto Ash Road, and follow this through Sandwich to the T junction. At the junction, turn left onto Ramsgate Road, go over the river, and straight across the next two roundabouts, staying on Ramsgate Road heading towards Great Stonar. Follow the road through Great Stonar to the A256 roundabout. At the roundabout, turn right onto the A256, still Ramsgate Road, and follow this through Richborough Port, straight over the roundabout, through Ebbsfleet, past the golf course and into Cliffs End. As you are about to leave Cliffs End on Sandwich Road, turn left onto Cliffs End Road. Follow this back through Cliffs End towards Minster, leaving Cliffs End on Cottington Road. Follow this road past the golf course clubhouse, under the railway bridge, then hard left. Continue on past the caravan park and on till the T junction in Minster. At the junction, turn left onto Tollhill Street and follow this till the second turn off on the right. Turn right onto Monkton Road and go back to the start point. |
