Cycle Steps
This is a circumnavigation of Canvey Island with a section added on to lengthen the ride. The most difficult part is the last section of the sea wall on Canvey Island going clockwise. This is because it is roamed by cattle and can either be sticky mud when wet or or rock hard and uneven when dry.

I ride the Island section anticlockwise to get the bad part out of the way first.

I live beyond Southend so an additional 22 miles added to get to start and back. Enjoyed this. Great views.

From Leigh its along a rough grass/stone path alongside the Estuary. Once onto canvey locating the path going West to sea wall is a challenge ....unless i missed something. In the end aborted that part and joined sea wall at another point.

As stated above it may have been muddy or a challenging ride anyway.

Once on Sea wall it was great. Your high up so see everything. Be prepared to lift bike over little security bridges /stiles a couple of times.

Lots of alternatives to increase or decrease the route as you go.(always a bonus/weather/time etc). It's not a smooth ride. I'm on an Urban so it was a bit bumpy.

I'm new to this cycling lark and found this a good route. The leg west of Canvey Way I found very tricky, the ground was baked solid and uneven. I think my bile (Specialized CrossTrail Sport) would have been fine for it, but my legs aint!

If you want, you can carry on from Leigh onto southend and there is a cycle path most of the way along the prom, and plenty of places to stop for a cup of tea!

I'd recommend this route if you're relative beginer, as its flat most of the way (Apart from the hill in Leigh....) and as RonnieG said above, there is plenty of options to add or subtract from it.
