This is a mixed route, mainly on paths on the early part and quiet roads towards the end, that also has a steep incline towards the end. The route starts at Monyhull Hospital, but quickly joins the canal off Shelfield Road. This is followed until you join the Rea River Valley route, by Kings Norton Park. The route is predominantly on paths until Longbridge, where you join some quiet roads with a steep incline up Rose Hill to Lickey Hills (Crofton Park). At this point you can enjoy a rest and great scenery before taking the return journey. (Please note that the route only covers the outward leg, so the distance needs to be doubled for the return leg. The time may not be doubled, as the steep incline coming becomes a steep descent going back, making the return leg slightly quicker and easier) |
