Once past Gillas Lane the rest is on Cycle Network Routes including NCN 1 around Murton to S. Hetton then down to Seaham onto Coast Road to Ryhope pick up the NCN 1 back to Murton and work way through traffic lanes to Regional route 20 back to the Hetton ponds and the cycle track circuit then back to Houghton.
