| Off road route along canal path. The track starts as packed ash and develops into muddy path. Ok when dry but can get very muddy in the winter. I normally cycle to Paper Mill Lock and back via the same route giving a total ride of about 17 miles. | |

| Big free car park at the Heybridge Basin with a nearby pub that cooks food. Cafe at Paper Mill Lock (Make nice Carrot Cake). There is a smaller car park at the lock as well. Once you get away from Maldon you are right out in the country. |

| Pleasant bumpy ride few pedestrians and fishermen. Saw a Kingfisher and Great Crested Grebe. | ||
