Cycle Steps
This is a road route, on a mix of A, B and country roads, that undulates. It is called the Edgware Rugby Club Reliability Route, 100 K Route. (There is also a suggestion at the end for a shorter 45 K Route.

Starting at the Hemel Hemprstead Clubrooms, head away from the A4251 on Red Lion Lane. At the T junction turn left onto Lower Road, heading into the centre of Hemel Heampstead. Follow this road, as it becomes Belswains Lane, heads straight through a number of mini-roundabouts, and on till the Lawn Road mini-roundabout where you cannot go straight across.
At the mini-roundabout, turn left onto Lawn Road and follow this to the A414/A4146 large roundabout. Take the third exit, onto Leighton Buzzard Road, A4146, heading towards Leighton Buzzard. Follow the A4146 straight through the first mini-roundabout, and on till the larger B487 roundabout.
At this roundabout, turn right, off the A4146 and onto Queensway, B487, heading towards Piccotts End. Go left at the mini-roundabout and then take the first left, off the B487 annd onto the High Street, heading towards Piccotts End.
Follow the High Street and go straight across the mini-roundabout, where it becomes Piccotts End Road. Follow Piccotts End Road straight across the A4147 roundabout and into Piccotts End.
In Piccotts End, turn right onto Dodds Lane, where you have the first climb. Follow Dodds Lane to the T junction.
At the junction, turn left onto Cupid Green Lane, heading towards Gaddesden Row. Follow this road till the T junction.
At the junction, turn left onto Gaddesden Row and follow this through Gaddesden Row. Continue on this road till you reach the houses and the road swings sharply right. At this point it becomes Clements End Road. Follow the road till the Common Road crossroads, where you have the priority.
At the crossroads, turn left onto Common Road, heading towards Dagnall. Follow the road, as it becomes Studham Lane, to the B4506 T junction in Dagnall.
At the junction, turn right onto Dunstable Road, B4506, heading towards Eaton Bray. Follow the B4506 to the B489 roundabout.
At the roundabout go straight across onto Harling Road, and follow this road straight through Eaton Bray, and out on the Totterhoe Road, heading towards Totterhoe.
Once you leave the houses, on your right hand side, take the turn off on the left, for Stanbridge. Follow this to the A505 T junction [care]. At the junction, turn left, onto the A505, then immediately right, off again, heading for Stanbridge. Follow the road to the T junction on the outskirts of Stanbridge.
At the junction, turn right onto Tilsworth Road, then, on the second curve os the slow S-bend, turn left onto Mill Road, heading towards Eggington. Follow Mill Road, swinging left at the end of it to the T junction.
At the junction, turn left onto the High Street and follow this through Eggington and on till the A4012 T junction.
At the junction, turn left onto Leighton Road, A4012, heading towards Clipstone. Follow the A4012 until it turns sharp left. At this bend, take the turn off to the right, off the A4012, heading for Clipstone [extreme care here].
Follow the road past Clipstone and on till the crossroads. Turn right onto Mile Tree Road, riding alongside the narrow gauge railway. Follow the road to the T junction.
At the junction, turn left onto Eastern Way, heading towards Heath & Reach. Follow the road to the T junction on the outskirts of Heath & Reach. Turn right onto Leighton Road, and follow this as it swings left and right through Heath & Reach, leaving on Woburn Road. Take the left turn onto Brickhill Road, heading for Stockgrove and and climb to Great Brickhill.
Follow the road past Stockgrove Country Park, by-pass Stockgrove, and on till the T junction in Great Brickhill [25 miles covered], where you swing left approaching the junction.
At the junction, turn left onto Ivy Lane, heading towards Soulbury. Follow Ivy Lane and descend the hill to cross the Grand Union Canal, just past the golf course. At the T junction just after the canal, turn left and then first right onto Great Brickhill Road. Follow the road across the railway lines and the A4146 and into Soulbury.
In Soulbury, turn right onto Stewkley Road, B4032, and follow the road into Stewkley.
In Stewkley, turn left, off the B4032 onto High Street South, heading towards Wing. After about half mile, turn right onto Dunton Road, heading towards Cublington.
Follow Dunton Road until it turn right in a small copse of trees. Take the left turn off at the triangular island on the left, still heading for Cublington. Follow the road straight through Cublington and out on the Aston Abbotts Road.
Follow this road through Aston Abbotts and out on the Wingrave Road to the A418 T junction.
At the junction, turn left onto the A418 [care], then immediately right, off again onto Winslow Road and head into Wingrave. In Wingrave, swing left, then as the road bends sharp right, with the duck pond ahead of you, take the left turn onto Leighton Road. Follow this to the first crossroads, where you have the right of way.
At the crossroads, turn right, heading towards Mentmore. Follow the road as it bends sharp left at the golf course, then sharp right around the trees and on to the edge of Mentmore. Where the road turns sharp right, take the turn off on the left, heading towards Ledburn.
Follow the road for over a mile as it descends and take the first turn off to the right, heading towards Horton. Follow the road under Train Robbers Bridge to the B488 T junction.
At the junction, turn right onto the B488 heading towards Horton. However, take the first left, off the B488, heading towards Slapston. Follow the road through the sharp right hand bend of an S bend, then as it turns sharp left, take the turn off to the right and follow the road through Ivinghoe Aston.
Start to climb up Beacon Hill, then halfway up, turn right at the T junction onto the B489 [care], heading towards Ivinghoe, to complete the climb [46 miles done]. Turn off the B489 at the first turn off on the left, heading for Ringshall. Follow the road to the B4506 T junction in Ringshall.
At the junction, turn right onto the B4506, heading towards Northchurch. Follow the B4506 to the A4251 T junction in Northchurch.
At the junction, turn left onto the A4251, heading into Berhamsted. After about 500 yards, turn right, off the A4251 onto Durrantts Lane. Head straight across the roundabout and on till the T junction. Turn left onto Shootersway, then right at the mini-roundabout onto Dennys Lane to go under the A41 and climb out of the valley.
After about one mile, turn left onto Hog Lane, and follow this to the A416 T junction in Ashley Green.
At the junction, turn right onto the A416 then immediately left off again, onto Two Dells Lane, heading towards Lye Green. Follow the road to the T junction at the B4505.
At the junction, turn left, onto the B4505, heading towards Bovingdon. Take the first turn off on the right, onto Ley Hill Road, after you pass the end of the runway on the outskirts of Bovingdon. Take the first left onto Green Lane and follow this to the T junction in Bovingdon.
At the junction, turn right onto Chipperfield Road, and pump towards Chipperfield. After two miles, turn left onto Bulstrode Lane, then take the first turn off right onto Rucklers Lane. Follow this under the A41, and on till the A4251 T junction in Hemel Hempstead.
At the junction turn left onto the A4251, go under the railway bridge and immediately right onto Nash Mills Lane and back to the “RED LION” and the finish.

For a 45 K Route, use the 100K Route until Dagnall, where you turn left and climb up to Ringshall to rejoin the above route to finish.

Great route low traffic with plenty of small undulations to power up and compete with your fellow riders,some nice pubs on route, I added a bit as we started and finished from st albans and completed in 4 hours total.
