Leave Bassaleg on A468 towrads Caerphilly. Head North passing through Llanbradach and on reaching Ystrad Mynach take the A472 towards Newridge. Head towards Crumlin and take the left (A472) and tackle Hafodyrynys Hill! Continue towards Pontypool and then Usk. After Usk, take the B3245 towards Llangwn and Gaerllwyd. Turn left on Ditch Hill (!!!) to Shirenewton. Take Crick Lane from Shirenewton to Crock and A48. A48 to the Coldra and Newport Southern Relief Road to M4 Junction 28 and then to Bassaleg
