Cycle Steps
Riders should be fairly fit since the Yorkshire Dales are hilly and quite steep in places. Recommend touring or road bikes with low gears (triple or compact gears). It is a pleasant steady ride alongside river to Kettlewell, where there are several cafes. The route then becomes harder with hard climb through Horsehouse to Carlton. Good pub lunches at Horsehouse. Descent to Leyburn, where you cross main road and then follow valley back down to Hawes via small and pretty typical N Yorks villages.
Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?
Aysgarth Falls and Hardrow Force. Good pubs and cafes in Hawes, plus accommodation. Rope making museum and Hardrow Force waterfall worth visiting.
