Cycle Steps
This is a mixed route of roads and canal systems, so not best suited for pure road bikes.
Starting at the Netto shops in Breightmet, travel down Bury/Bolton Rd, A58, to near the Netto store at Elton near Bury. Turn right into Buxton Street and right again into Wellington Street, and get down on to the canal network. Follow the canal system all the way through Radcliffe and past the back end of Little Lever, joining the road network near Farnworth. Turn left onto Hall Lane, A6053, and head into Farnworth. Head out of Farnworth and head downhill through Moses Gate Country Park, coming out at the bottom of Leverhulme Park, on the B6209. We used to have friends that lived on the Somerton Rd estate so we detoured by there but this is optional. To avoid this, go left into Long Lane and cycle down the side of Leverhulme Park and up to the A58 junction. Turn right onto the A58 and back to the start point.
Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?
We used to take a backpack and stock up on food and drink at Bury Netto before embarking down the canal network. Where the canals cut through Radcliffe, there is the Lord Raglan pub and round the corner from this is Radcliffe Asda. So there are alternatives depending on your prefference.
