Really Easy, only 1 hill, great spot for wildlife. A bit long, so I suggest that poole used to cycling try it. Very safe, lots of cycle tracks and country roads. One part requires you to dismout, just after crossing the bridge about 3/4 of the way there. Overall a great route.

Is this route ok for a road bike and is there access across the river near Attenbourough, as this does not show up on the google map?

I haven't done this route (yet!) but I live near Attenborough and can tell you that your last chance to cross the Trent is the Clifton flyover (A52). This route takes you over the bike-friendly Wilford Suspension Bridge but you can also come over the Toll Bridge (between Wilford Suspension Bridge and Clifton flyover). Other than that though, it's boat only!
