Me and my classmates at College are about to undertake in a Cost to Coast Cycle to raise money for STrathcarron Hospice in Fallkirk. We have found several plans. Our current planned route is from Dunbar to Edinburgh, Edinburgh to Falkirk, Falkirk to Glasgow, Glasgow to Paisley and finally Paisley to Largs. I cant find a bit by bit route for each part, only maps. Couldn anyone help me?

Cheers
Graham

The book Scotland: The National Cycle Network by Harry Henniker, available from Sustrans has route descriptions on NCN 75 from Edinburgh to Gourock, which might be better for you than your planned route via Falkirk, though I can see why you'd choose Falkirk, since it's for the hospital and all. I just prefer the cycle paths to canal paths, but that's a personal preference.

Here's a route description from the center of Edinburgh to the Falkirk Wheel. Unfortunately, nothing as detailed for Falkirk to Glasgow on their site, but here's some detail for you. Or you could follow these instructions in reverse

On this site itself, we have maps for
Glasgow to Paisley
Paisley to Gourock
and Gourock to Wemyss Bay
Hope you enjoy your ride!

You should consider Grangemouth to Bowling which is the shortest and easiest because it follows the forth/clyde canal. I have used this route many time and even walked it for charity

Alex, A route from Glasgow to Ardrossan is via the Sustrans National Cycle Network Route 7. Do a google search for "ayrshire coast cycleway" and it should come up with map of the Kilbirnie to Ardrossan bit. A similar search should show you the Glasgow to Kilbirnie bit. I'm going to cycle the Paisley to Ayr bit tomorrow. Ron.

havn't got it plotted, but the route we took was fairly straight and direct,

Glencoe - wheels in the water
up the glen on the A82
Bridge of Orchy
Tyndrum
Inverardran (onto A 85)
A 827
Killin - LUNCH!
South side of Loch Tay (quieter)
back onto A 827
Aberfeldy
OVERNIGHT at hostel in WEEM (just North of Aberfeldy)
Grandtully
Kincraigie
backroads to Butterstone
myraid of wee roads (cant remember - was following someone!) to Longforgan
to road bridge through Dundee
coast road through Tayport & Tentsmuir to St Andrews
wheels in the sea
sleep.

it was a good weekend
