Joined: 19 Jul 2009 Posts: 24 Bike: My Profile | I was out in the rain yesterday doing about a 40+ mile ride. I ride a straight bar road bike with real narrow rims and tyres. Part of the route i took put me on grass and an old previous muddy terrain. (about 2 miles of it) my back wheel slid into a rut and the bike, about to leave the ground, spun causing me to break. Bike stopped, went one way...i went the other. In fact i was launched up and out of the saddle. (honest...i know it sounds dramatic!). I went up and then came down like a sack of spuds onto quite hard terrain. My arm was under me, across my chest whem i it the deck and although arm was of it was like my chest hit a log. Man! it took the wind right out of me and i lay there thinking....Hmmm am I in serrious trouble here or am I going to be ok. after abiout 2-3 minutesd i got myself together and got up and got back on the bike (that was ok). Fortunatly No one was around!! So..ther it is....It was always going to happen and after 2 years of cycling I had my first real dangerous fall/crash. After that i really appreciated how slippy my tyres are even on the tarmac. Might need to make some changes. |
