This is an enjoyable mixed route, through country lanes, canal towpaths and roads. You head down the B5069, go through Sweeney and down some country lanes to join the Montgomery Canal just East of Llynclys. You then have a 12 mile cycle along canal tow paths, before rejoining the tarmac at Hindford. It's then A and B roads back to Oswestry.
A mountain bike or cyclocross bike is recommended, as some of the canal path is a little uneven and could be described as, technical singletrack, in places. There are plenty of picnic benches etc en route and loads and loads of wildlife including ducks, swans and herons - care should be taken in nesting season. |
