Wales Cycle Routes > Monmouthshire
Settled in the south east area of Wales, Monmouthshire was first established in 1535. Since then the Welsh community never really knew if it was Wales or England. In 1974 it was decided it was indeed part of Wales. This active community, housing roughly 84,000 people, offers all sorts of different activities from rock climbing, 4x4 off roading classes, para-gliding and numerous walking trails. Some history highlights include the Monnow Bridge, the only one of three left standing in Europe, 6 castles and underground rock Cathedrals.
