Cycle Steps
This is a nice route from the western side of Hampstead to Fleet Street.

It takes in Georgian village Hampstead, quiet streets with white stucco-fronted houses around Belsize Park, great views from Primrose Hill, Regent's Park and some trendy bits of London (Soho and Covent Garden).

At least half of the journey is on cycle routes and nowhere is it too busy.

Note that the section through Regent's Park is along an experimental cycle route which is being reviewed in Jan 2010. Hopefully it will become permanent. Annoying you cannot continue beyond Chester Road, though eventually this may change.

There is a faster version of the route which involves cutting out the Hampstead, Belsize Park, Primrose Hill section and instead running straight down the Finchley Road bus lane to Regents Park via Avenue Road. This saves about 6 minutes.
Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?
Church Row in Hampstead (old quaint Georgian houses), Primrose Hill (good views), London Zoo, a great little cafe about two thirds of the way through Regents Park at the junction with Chester Road, the Post Office Tower, bike shop (Evans) on Rathbone Place at the junction with Oxford Street.
