This is a nice long ride, with plenty of shops along the way, that is more suited to road bikes, but could be done on a mountin bike as well. The whole route is on A roads, and there are lots of uphill sections on the way to Buxton. However, if you chose to cycle back, this gives lots of downhill sections on the way back. There's not many places you can go wrong, just follow the signs for Stockport, then follow the A6. There wasn't to much traffic when I did the route, but that was on a Thursday afternoon.

There is an aquaduct that can be seen on the way, but I'm not sure of its name.
