devon coast to coast cycle

Joined: 06 Aug 2010 Posts: 2 Bike: | Hi I am cycling devon coast to coast in august and wondered which bike to use, I usually ride a Specialized Sirrus Pro Hybrid Bike which has a carbon frame. I have been told if there is too much off road this bike may not be suitable. Can anyone help? |

Joined: 07 Aug 2010 Posts: 1 Bike: | Barry You don't say which route you're taking. If it's the Tour of Britain Pro Ride on 5 Sept then your bike sounds fine but if it's the Sustrans route you may need something a bit sturdier. Nick |

Joined: 12 May 2010 Posts: 13 Bike: My Profile | I did the Sustrans route a couple of years ago and there are quite a few fairly tough off-road sections that are not ideal for road bikes, although a couple of our party did have road bikes. Better with a hybrid if possible. |
