I get a lot of pain when cycling, left leg goes numb then painful, pain in groin. Although only 37 I will need a hip replacement in a few years but physio thinks the cycling shouldn't be painful. He thinks maybe my position when cycling maybe wrong. Does anyone know a good on-line source to show correct saddle and handlebar positions?

What would cause numbness in the scrotum area (sorry to use this explanation but thats the easiest way to describe the location), does the seat nose need lowering.

Hi, unfortunately I can only sympathise with you but as I'm a woman I can't really relate to the problem. I'd probably suggest altering a couple of things and just seeing how they affect you. Try changing the angle of the saddle and adjusting the height of the headset as you're probably leaning over too much.

i'd rotate the saddle forwards, but only a notch at a time / per day.
If you tweak too much, you;'ll have no idea what works.

rotate a notch, ride for a day or two.

rinse and repeat.

if it does not improve matters, then a visit to a specialist fitter (will cost) to get you properly set up.
saddle width is personal too - it is dependent on the distance between your 'seat bones' in your backside.
A good cycleshop will be able to measure this and 'prescribe' the right saddle.

whilst i dont have any hip problems, i have a knee that sounds like a rustling crisp packet, so can partially relate to your problem!
