Good day all, my road bike will go up to 56Km but I get no pressure after that, can I add another gear onto the cog, I don't want to loose my lowest gear yet, or do I need to loose one to gain one?

not so simple, i'm afraid.

how many rear cogs have you got? 7, 8, 9 or 10?

an additional cog generally means a new rear derailleur and a new shifter too.
These things are generally in sets.

Usually a new chain will be required.

a 10 cog chain is different to an 8 cog chain, for instance. They are narrower.

What brand and range are your current gears?
I think you;'ll get better specific advice with this info.

If you are wanting to pedal at speeds higher than 35 mph (56kph) ...how regularly is this?

Also, a set of 10 may require a new wheel, depending on the current spoke offset.

Thank you for the reply, sounds like a trip to the bike shop at some point.

I don't hit the top speed to often at the moment but want to build on my speed. I think I'll get my climbing legs back before I go into a higher cog set.
