Off the west coast of Scotland, there are 52 uninhabited islands. However on the islands that are inhabited Gaelic is common. During the summer there are only 2 hours of darkness and the average temperature is 16-20 C. The islands offer lots of sunshine, a warm sea and white sandy beaches. A highlight is the Northern Lights and a pleasant climate. Ferries are available to most islands.
