Scotland Cycle Routes > Skye
Often called the Isle of Skye it is the most northern and large island in the Inner Hebrides. Its the home of the oldest archaeological site in Scotland, dating roughly back to the 7th millennium BC. A mild climate is common, ranging from 6 degrees C to 15 degrees C. At one time 75% of the population spoke Gaelic, but now only 34% still speaks it. The hospitality industry is thriving and keeps the island running. Skye Bridge connects Skye with the mainland of Scotland to provide easy access.
