Bordering on the Northeast of Glasgow, North Lanarkshire is a commuter town. Although fairly large only seven towns have more than 10,000 people. Where as the 45 small towns have a low population. Most of these towns were designed as an overflow for the mining families, only being 5-10 miles big. One town has only 30 houses on two streets.
