Cycle Steps
This route is 60/40 on and off road. From Starbeck using the old railway into Bilton Lane, past the Gardeners Arms (good cheap pint) and down into Connynham Hall. From there it is on road, and up hill, into and out of Knaresborough. Head towards Ripley on B6165, but turn right onto Highmoor Lane towards Brearton. You then head off on a bridal path all the way to South Stainley. From the Red Lion pub go straight across the A61 into Water Lane and along more solid tracks. This turns into a path that becomes slightly challenging, with a nice big hill. Track joins up with Scarah Bank and onto the main road (B6165) down into Ripley. From Ripley after an ice-cream of the day, it's back onto the B6165 to Knaresborough, following the way you came right back to the start.
