This is a road route, on a mix of A and B roads and country lanes, but mainly on B roads. There are a fair amount of hills, the majority of which are not too steep, but a couple are harder work.
The route goes out from Fairfield Park through Hitchin then along the B656 and B651 to Wheathamstead. On the return you follow a slightly different route between Gustard Wood and Kimpton and also around Hitchin.
