A167 to Rushyford is very busy road at peak times as is A689. the are two good stretches on country roads and a long downhill to Middridge. rest of trip is through an urban area with some industrial estate roads.
Long stretches of well maintained cycle paths through Newton Aycliffe which are a credit to the local council. the route can be added to quite easily and there are shortcuts to be found if it proves too much! you can also start anywhere on this route as it's circular |

No Bike shops on route but Cycleways, Newton Aycliffe is situated on Neville Parade which is close to the route through the town centre. Good shop well recommended.if you vary the route to go through some of the Great Aycliffe way, ther are some great pieces of art to be seen and some great country-side
