My pal is coming from the US in May and we would like to do a few days cycling on Skye.We plan to take the train from Glasgow to Kyle of Lochalsh. We are easy going non- mountain bikers. Can someone give me a route that would incorporate some nice scenery and a good day of cycling. Also some ideas on places to stay along the way ?

Hi Sheila,

You can't really go wrong on Skye, it's all lovely, and scenic no matter what roads you are on.

The A87 is the main road up and down Skye so it is busy at times, but not horrendous. However if you can get onto the A855 and cycle up round the north coast.

There is an incredible illusion on Skye

When cycling towards the Talisker distillery, the road is quite straight.
When cycling away, it is remarkably twisty....
