I'm pretty sure if it hasn't Euan McGregor and Charlie Boorman will probably do it on their motor bikes lol.

Would be a good idea, and there are plenty suitable roads for cycling on. Would just take a lot of organisation I guess.

It must be at least 3 thousand miles, which is perhaps why no-one has tried it.

Actually, I recall some gentlemen doing it on some bikes that were odd in some way. Big or something. For charity. I don't recall much other than that. It was a link from the sustrans site I think.
