I am a student living in Preston and a couple of my mates are driving to Helvellyn soon. I thought i would take advantage of their transport to go cycling there.
Anyone know of some good routes near Helvellyn/Ullswater. Or even better, one actually up Helvellyn itself?
I have road or mtb capabilities.

You would be well advised to stay away from Helvellyn on a bike, it would be a foolhardy venture at least.

A route you could try, all road but trying, would be from Patterdale, up over the Kirkstone Pass, down into Windermere, along to Ambleside, in Ambleside turn right to back up to the top of the Kirkstone Pass and then back down to Patterdale. It has climbs, descents, flats and hostelries. Best of luck, but keep of the mountain.

Hi Rod,

It would be great if you could add the route to the site? Then I can link it in your reply?

Cheers
