The last day of our 12 day charity bike ride to the Picos de Europa mountains in northern Spain.
Hope you have enjoyed all our routes now on cycle-route.com. You can find out more about this bike ride at www.picosriders.org.uk
Leaving Renedo head north on the CA280, which becomes the CA180, down the Rio Saja valley towards Cabazon de la Sal. After passing through Ruente and by Ucieda, carry on until the CA180 turns left to cross over the Rio Saja. Don't go left but straight on along the CA812 towards Cos. Stay on the CA812 through the villages until you come to Villanueva de la Pena which you leave on the CA283, and soon cross over the Rio Saja and then shortly meet the CA135. Here turn right (north). Follow the main, CA135 to Puente San Miguel. Here as you go into the village there is a large roundabout, turn left onto the CA133. Shortly turn right towards, and pass through Mijares. This un-numbered road will eventually take you north onto the main CA131. Go right and pass through Queveda. The CA131 will take you in a generally easterly direction until you join the main N611 to Santander.
We only take the N611 as far as Requejada, from where we take the FEVA train into Santander. The railway station is very close to the ferry terminal, but the time saved by this train ride allows some sightseeing in Santander before the ferry departure at 4pm.
Hasta la vista!
