Cycle Steps
1. Mainly B class roads with a fast section of A class road from Otley to Harewood Bridge. Steep climb out of Sicklinghall and then a series of reasonably challenging climbs and drops all the way to Ilkley. From Iron Bridge to Langbar is a 20% gradient and a beast! but the descent into Beamsley makes it well worth it. Stroll into Bolton Abbey and drop into Cav Pav (Cavendish Pavillion) and meet up with loads of riders doing the same thing. The run back following the Wharfe is a lot easier with a series of climbs and descents all the way to Otley. From Otley to Harewood bridge is fast and you can make up a lot of time especially if you have a tail wind. The final beast is from Netherby to Kearby - I avoided Kearby Cliff and took the back hill which has a cracking little Hairpin bend that gets you out of the saddle. From Kearby onto Sicklinghall is the home straight and leads past the Scotts Arms, a well times watering hole.
