Cycle Steps
1. start at central pier. up chapel st, left at central drive and immediately right up reeds avenue(all cycle paths) to whitegate drive. turn right then left into newcastle avenue. turn left at end across west park dr through stanly park across east park dr and along the road to the de vere hotel. just before the hotel take the path to the left round the hotel and the golf course to the far side of the golf course and follow the sign to staining.follow the road straight ahead to the mini roundabout. bear right and just past the roundabout turn left at the side of the shops along a narrow single track rd. follow this untill you come to the private rd sign then go over the style on the left and acroos the field via the public footpath to the farm. the path is then diverted round the farm (signposted) to the rd. turn left at the junction onto the b5266 to singleton. turn right at the roundabout. at the end of the village turn left onto mile rd a5269 across the a585 to thistleton. turn left to elswick, along beech rd to copp lane and follow this to gt eccleston. turn left at the end of the rd across the a586 to blackpool old rd to catford lane, across the river on the toll bridge(20p). then take the first right then turn left a few yards later to lancaster rd and follow this to pilling. turn right onto tha a588 to backsands lane. go through the trees to th car park at the edge of the marshes. go left along the top of the embankment untill you see a slope going down to the marshes. you can then either go along the small trail at the bottom of the embankment past the trees then back up onto the embankment via the cuncrete slope and along the tarmac path to knott end or stay on the sand and go straight to knott end(if the tides out). the sand is very firm and easy to ride on. at knott end get the ferry to fleetwood. check the sailing times, this ferry dosn't sail at very low tides. at fleetwood follow the path along the sea front back to blackpool.
