| 1. Leaving Johnstone, head for erskine bridge (sneaky route along Moss Rd Linwood). Once over the bridge follow cycle route 7 to Tarbet then take the Old Military road over to Arrochar. This is the eaiest part of the cycle over. From Arrochar follow signs to Helensburgh, this is a great smooth road with nice small hills for a while. After a good few miles at Finnart (I think) there is a beast of a hill 6:1 gradient! The rest of the route from there is on and off roads & cycle paths, through the towns and villages back to Dumbarton some bad patches on the road especially in Luss. Back to Dumbarton your home free and follow the way you came. Great all year round (I did it on 16th November), Enjoy! |
