Cycle Steps
1. This is a tour, mostly on the new cycle paths of the city, built on the old railway lines. It starts at the Docklands on Albert Quay and heads down the Marina and along the "seashore" to Blackrock Village, if this is a Sunday the market will be on from 11-3pm. Head up the hill to your left and out past Blackrock Castle on the Main Road, you will again meet another dedicated cycle path which continues towards Rochestown, you come back in the Old Railway Line intowards the Marina again and Pairc Ui Choimh Sports Grounds. This brings you towards the City Centre where you will negotiate a bit of traffic for about a mile. Head up along the North Quays to the Distillery Building and enter a tiny gate to connect you to the paths along the Mardyke, you come onto Mardyke Parade and must enter Fitzgeralds Park, continue along by the River until exiting the park(Cafe here) You must then cross the main road and enter another path along the Lee Fields. By the area where the seat and car park is, cross the main road and you will see a sign for another cycle path, follow this to come out on the Model Farm Road. You may decide to go back this route or continue through some housing estates or main road. Either way you end up back at the distillery building - continue along the North Mall until you meet the traffic lights at the bottom of Shandon Street, turn up the hill and take the 2nd right Dominic Street up to the Shandon Street area, there are lovely cafes there to relax and enjoy a bite to eat or a beverage in Cork's Medieval District you may also wish to explore the little lanes around Shandon Bells.
