Cycle Steps
1. This is a mixed route, mainly on a canal towpath, but with a loop around country roads as a detour on the way back. The route starts near the A65/A6120 roundabout at Horsforth. Initially follow Calverley Lane down down to the canal, crossing the river on the way. Head along canal through Leeds and on under the M1 to Woodlesford. At Woodleford, cross the canal and head up through Pottery Lane to the A642. Go left onto the A642 and cross over the canal and the river. Turn at the first left off the A642 into Bullerthorpe Lane. Follow this around to the Newsam Green Road turn off and follow this and Pontefract Lane until it runs parallel to the M1. Take the first turn on the right (before you reach the roundabout) and go under the M1. Follow the road up past Temple Newsam House. Head along Temple Newsam Road, then cut off on the road across the golf course. Follow the cycle routes through Halton Moor and swing back round on Easy Road to the fancy traffic island system. Negotiate this to get onto South Accommodation Road, which takes you over the river. Swing round left into Fox Way and take the path at the corner of the car park to get back to the canal. Return along the canal back through Leeds, passing the Royal Armouries Museum, to Horsforth. Once again go up to Calverley Lane and follow this back to the start point near the roundabout.
