Cycle Steps
1. This is a mixed route, on railway paths, roadside cycle paths, country roads and national cycle paths, that also takes you across the old Severn bridge. The ride starts at the Bristol end of the Railway Path and follows this gently rising route until the old Mangotsfield Station, where it turns off onto the A4174 ring road cycle path. It then follows country roads heading through Winterbourne on the B4058. It then follows quiet roads out to the Severn Bridge – the old bridge has a cycle/pedestrian walkway along it. After a diversion into Chepstow it joins the NCN route 4, which leads through the lanes to Caldicot and across the Gwent levels into Newport. With any luck you can get a ride across the Usk on the Transporter bridge – there’s no charge for cyclists
