Cycle Steps
1. This was a GoBike ride, done in April 2010. Starting from Hamilton train station down to Strathclyde park then follow path on the right just after the water sports centre. This is part of the Clyde walkway. Go under the Hamilton-Motherwell dual carriageway by the river and up some steps heading toward Baron's Haugh nature reserve. Then head up into Muirhouse and through Shieldmuir, Wishawhill, Clelland, Bonkle, Murdostoun Castle estate(can be VERY muddy), Carluke, and lunch in Crossford. The return route has some steep hills to start with. Cross the bridge over the River Clyde and turn right onto the main road heading toward Hamilton. After about 500 metres, turn sharp left at the Tillietudlum inn and be ready for some very steep hills. Turn left at Draffan and head into Stonehouse. Go straight across the main road and stay on this road until you reach a T juction at Low Kittymuir farm. Turn left here then right at the next T junction. Take the second road on the right then at the T junction turn left. After about 500 metres, at a sharp left hand bend, go straight ahead onto a track. Follow this down through Hamilton High Parks(there may be a closed gate to negotiate beside some farm buildings. Continue onto Barncluith road and at the bottom of the hill at a mini-roundabout take a sharp left onto Miller Street which takes you back to the town centre. This route was added from a GPX file.
