Cycle Steps
1. A pleasant 40 mile route that should take around 3 to 3 1/2 hours with a short break at Rudston. This route takes in the Yorkshire Coast, before cutting inland, and into the Yorkshire Wolds, and pushing back up to Scarborough. Park up on the South Bay in Scarborough by the lighthouse - plenty of cafes if you want a pre-ride cuppa. Head out on the A165 coast road, towards Filey, and take the A1039 to loop through the town and rejoin the A165. Past Primrose Valley bear left onto Moor Road for Reighton and then left again onto the B1229 to go out to Flamborough Head. From Flamborough head across on the B1255 to Bridlington and then inland on the B1253 to Rudston. This is roughly the half way point and a good place to take a short break. Now turn right into Burton Fleming Road and head North to Burton Fleming. Take the right turn onto the Hunmanby Road and head for Hunmanby. From Hunmanby its a gentle rise and then steep drop down to Folkton to pick up the back lane into Cayton across the Cayton Carrs. A left at the B1261 junction takes you through Cayton and a right turn onto the A64 has you on the way back to Scarborough. Lots of choices for a post ride cuppa or if you need to refuel then treat yourself to some fine fish and chips!
