1. Tarka Trail
Flat terrain with little gradient. Easy for novices and beginners and enjoyable for cyclists of all levels due to scenery.
Scenic North Devon Route.
No traffic; paved for pedestrians and cyclists.

The tarka trail follows the route of the old railway route between Barnstaple and Bideford which I believe closed down in 1987. Therefore there are no shops etc to speak of on the way.
However there are certain openings, for example at Fremington where a picnic area is designated. There are also several bike hire shops which only usually open in the summer as this is tourist season.
