1. Heading southwest to Willand and then Halberton, pick up the Tiverton canal and tow-path and head north west., to it's end.
Then in nw direction aim for Greenham and Gamlins Farm campsite, for the night (brown signed). In the morning, head north on Cycle Route 3 to Tracebridge and then (off Cycle Route 3) to Ashbrittle.
Keep heading west for signs to Staple Cross (excellent views) and then Uplowman. Dropping down to Sampford Peverell, cycle east through village to Tiverton Parkway railway station where a cycle route can be picked up parallel to the M5.
This route will take you over a footbridge over the M5 and in a southerly direction, staying on the road by the M5 for as long as possible, cycle through Hill Farm and join the A38 for 200 yards to the roundabout. Go straight over and take the first pedestrian exit left which will take you on a cycle path through a housing estate.
At the junction, turn left through Willand Old Village and then around very windy road, around Bradfield House and to a T junction. Turn right and then left (25 yards) to delightful Kentisbeare village (follow signs). Go past Wyndham Arms pub, up hill and take first left out of village to Stoford Water.
In hamlet centre, take left to Ashill and after 2nd hill climb (2 miles and check view to left!), take right fork at small road triangle and drop into Ashill. Turn left at T junction and follow narrow, windy road into Uffculme, past Slow Jacks woods to the left (check the view!). Into the centre of the village (The Square) and back to the school. |
