1. A great loop, with plenty of testing hills. Takes in Roding, Stanstead Abbotts, Ware - all very pretty villages. Most of the roads are reasonably quiet on a Sunday. There are several long and short hill climbs, so good training if you have any hilly races coming up. Low Rise Hill, on the way back, just as you leave the main Roding Road, is a very steep descent with an uneven/potholed surface so take care. On leaving the main Road, to return to High Beach, you can take either fork in the road, but both are steep climbs - you'll have earned your beer at the finish!. Suits triathletes/road bikers looking for a scenic ride with long stretches to test their speed and hills to utilise all the gears. |
