1. Liverpool section is lovely, through parks and nice back roads down to Aigburth Road by Cressington (which is well worth a look) then roadside cyclepath along past the airport to the edge of Speke (had the path to myself!), then branch off through Hale village (thatched rooves), on through Halebarn and then down to Primrose meadows where you rejoin the Transpennine all the way along the river to Runcorn bridge. Through Runcorn it is a wiggle of footpaths and a bit random crossing until you get to the A56. Once you're on there Frodsham is nice, Helsby looks gorgeous with its crags that look like a face and then it's quite tough gentle gradients through Dunham into Hoole and then you're home and dry! |
