Cycle N from Oban on the A75 before turning off after 5 miles onto the A828 and cross the Connel Bridge in the direction of Fort William. If preferred the Sustrans route 78 can be used to avoid the first 3 miles of the busy road. Cycle along side loch Creran with magnificant views over the highlands. Follow A828 for 25 miles enjoying magnificent scenery on fairly quiet roads to S Ballachulish. Sustrans Route 78 runs parallel in places and can be used as a quiet lane if desired. At Ballachulish Join the busy A82 for 5 Miles to Connel and catch the ferry(free) across loch Linnhe. Turn South on the A861 on quiet roads enjoying magnificant views for 8 miles before turning onto the A884 for a sharp climb (200m) heading for lochaline. After 18 miles of wonderful cycling reach Lochaline and the ferry for Mull. Cross over and cycle the 5 Miles to Craignure to catch the 3rd and final ferry back to oban. A long (75miles) but amazing cycle! | |
