| A very quiet 50mile route through the beautiful villages north of Chelmsford. Road surfaces are generally excellent. Makes a great training ride for a long distance cycle, not too many taxing hills, but a few here and there to keep you on your toes. The best part is that once you get onto Mashbury road, you rarely meet traffic except around Great Notley and a very short trip on the A130 (which can be missed out if you prefer) Takes me around 3hrs30mins on a road bike, plus two 10 minute stops, usually one in Pleshey and one in Terling. Route is as follows: Chelmsford - Chignal St. James - Mashbury - Good Easter - High Easter - Pleshey - Howe Street - Littley Green - Hartford End - Leez Priory - Willows Green - Black Notley - Fairstead - Terling - Gamble's Green - Little Waltham - Howe Street - Mashbury - Chignal St. James - Chelmsford |

| Two very deep fords towards the end of the route. They have bridges, just make sure you're looking out for the signs when they are coming up, they each a good 3ft deep when its been raining! |
